Specialized R&D & Custom Engineering

When an off-the-shelf tool does not fit, we build software in the areas where we have built products ourselves: microcontroller simulation, circuit and PCB tools, optical form recognition, and the web applications around them.

FROM EMBEDARIUM

1. Embedded Systems Simulation & Browser Toolchains

Embedarium's processor models, toolchains and instruments are our own work. We apply the same experience to custom microcontroller models, simulators for teaching or testing, and browser-based development tools.

MCU & Peripheral Modeling

Instruction-level emulators with cycle counting, written in TypeScript, with timer, UART, SPI, I2C and ADC models for the 8051 family, AVR, Arm Cortex-M0+ and PIC16, checked against reference simulators such as uCsim, simavr, QEMU and gpsim.

Virtual Instruments

A 4-channel oscilloscope, a logic analyzer with frequency and duty-cycle measurement, a simulated serial terminal and VCD waveform export.

Browser & Server Toolchains

The SDCC compiler running in the browser as WebAssembly for the 8051 family, and server-side builds with avr-gcc, arm-none-eabi-gcc and SDCC with gputils for PIC16.

2. Circuit Simulation, PCB & EDA Tools

We build electronic design tools of the kind inside Embedarium: a schematic editor with electrical rule checks, an in-house SPICE solver that runs on the server, and PCB layout with automatic routing and manufacturing export.

SPICE Analysis

Operating point, DC sweep, transient and AC analysis from a modified nodal analysis solver with diode, transistor and op-amp models, compared against ngspice in tests.

PCB Layout & Autorouting

2- or 4-layer boards, an A* autorouter with rip-up and reroute, design rule checks, copper zones, and Gerber (with X2 attributes) and Excellon drill export.

Interactive Components

Simulation models for LEDs, push buttons, relays, DC motors, 7-segment displays, buzzers, 4×4 keypads and 16×2 LCDs.

3. Image Processing & Optical Mark Recognition

FastOMR's recognition engine is our own work: forms are designed in millimetres, printed as vector PDF and read back from scans and phone photos. We build similar pipelines for your own forms and documents.

Custom Optical Forms

Answer sheets, surveys and data-collection forms whose designer, PDF output and reader share one geometry, with a unique QR code on every printed page.

Document Image Processing

Corner-mark registration with a homography that corrects the perspective of phone photos, orientation detection, illumination flattening and noise clean-up.

Measured Recognition

Two-stage mark decisions that send unclear marks to a person, and an accuracy test of degraded scans (skew, low resolution, perspective, uneven light) run on every build.

4. Web Applications & Back-End Systems

Both products are multi-tenant web applications that we design and build ourselves. We build the same kind of system for clients: browser interfaces, APIs, background workers and deployment.

Background Workers

Queue workers for heavy jobs such as PDF generation, image recognition and firmware builds, so the interface stays responsive.

APIs & Webhooks

REST APIs with API keys, role-based permissions and outbound webhooks signed with HMAC-SHA256.

Deployment

Docker Compose deployments with PostgreSQL, Redis and S3-compatible object storage, served behind Cloudflare.

HOW WE WORK

Our Engineering Process

Every project follows the same four steps, and each step ends with something you can check.

01

Scoping

We write down the requirements, the constraints and what "done" means before any code is written.

02

Prototype

A small working version, tried on your own samples (forms, circuits or data) to find the hard cases early.

03

Build & Test

Automated tests, including comparisons against reference tools or measured sample sets where they exist.

04

Hand-Over

Deployment on your infrastructure or ours, documentation, and support terms agreed in the contract.
