Platforms Engineered by SDD Labs
SDD Labs builds two products: Embedarium, for teaching electronics and embedded systems, and FastOMR, for designing, reading and scoring optical answer sheets. Each section below describes what the software does today.
Embedarium — Circuit Design and Multi-MCU Simulation in the Browser
Embedarium is SDD Labs' flagship platform for teaching electronics and embedded systems. Students draw a circuit, write the firmware and run both in the browser: microcontrollers are emulated instruction by instruction, with cycle counting, in a Web Worker, while SPICE analyses run on the server. Instructors build courses around it with automatic grading. The interface is available in English and Turkish.
7 Simulated Targets in 4 Architectures
Generic 8051 and 8052, Nuvoton MS51, ADuC841, ATmega328P, Arm Cortex-M0+ (CMSDK) and PIC16F877A, with peripherals modelled per device package. 8051 C compiles in the browser with SDCC built for WebAssembly; AVR, Arm and PIC builds run on the server. The debugger supports breakpoints, watchpoints and stepping.
Schematic, SPICE Analysis & Instruments
Draw circuits in the schematic editor and run operating point, DC sweep, transient and AC analyses on the server. Probe signals with a 4-channel oscilloscope and a logic analyzer with VCD export.
PCB Design to Manufacturing Files
2- or 4-layer boards with an A* autorouter and design-rule check; output as Gerber X2 (with file attributes), Excellon drill files, BOM and pick-and-place (CPL).
Courses, Automatic Grading & Plagiarism Checks
Assignments graded automatically with UART test cases, netlist rules and waveform checks; winnowing-based plagiarism detection; a gradebook. LTI 1.3 support has been tested against a simulated LMS platform and is not yet certified.
There is no public sign-up: access is arranged through pilots and quotes. Installation on an institution's own servers is available by agreement.
FastOMR — Optical Answer Sheets, From Design to Score
FastOMR covers the whole optical-form workflow: design the form, print it as a vector PDF, scan the filled-in sheets, read them automatically and score them. The designer, the PDF generator and the reader share the same millimetre geometry, so forms print on an ordinary printer and are read from an office scanner or a phone photo, without a dedicated OMR scanner or drop-out-ink paper.
Millimetre-Precise Vector Designer
Answer blocks, student ID and booklet grids, survey scales, QR codes and barcodes on A3, A4, A5, Letter, Legal or custom paper, exported as print-ready vector PDF. Layout checks stop unreadable designs before they are printed.
Alignment for Scans and Phone Photos
Corner marks fix a projective homography that removes skew, perspective and shift; timing marks expose lens distortion; uneven lighting is flattened and sideways or upside-down sheets are detected. Uncertain sheets go to manual review.
Scoring, Item Analysis & KR-20
Multiple booklets with their own answer keys, penalty rules and sections. Item difficulty, discrimination and point-biserial correlation, KR-20 reliability with the standard error of measurement, student report cards and XLSX, CSV or JSON export.
Connecting to Your Systems
What each product offers today for working with an institution's existing systems.
FastOMR API & Webhooks
A REST API with an OpenAPI reference, accessed with API keys, and HMAC-signed webhooks for finished batches, sheets needing review, status changes and rescoring. Available on paid plans.
Embedarium in Your LMS
An LTI 1.3 tool with deep linking and grade return. It has been tested against a simulated LMS platform; certification and testing with specific LMS products are still ahead.
On-Premises by Agreement
Embedarium can run on an institution's own servers by agreement, deployed with Docker Compose. It is not offered as an air-gapped installation.
