About SDD Labs
SDD Labs is a software company founded in 2024. We make two products: Embedarium, for learning and practising embedded systems and circuit design in a web browser, and FastOMR, for designing, reading and scoring paper answer sheets.
See, Detect, Decide
The name SDD Labs comes from our motto: See, Detect, Decide. Useful software first sees its input clearly, then detects what matters in it, and only then helps a person decide.
In embedded systems education, that idea became Embedarium: circuit design with SPICE analysis, microcontroller simulation and courses with automatic grading, in a web browser. In assessment, it became FastOMR: answer sheets printed on plain paper, read from ordinary scans and phone photos, and scored with item analysis and KR-20 reliability.
At a Glance
A software company building products for engineering education and assessment, and custom software in the same fields.
Circuit design with SPICE analysis, simulation of seven microcontroller targets, PCB layout and courses with automatic grading, in a web browser.
Optical answer sheets from design to score: vector PDF forms, reading from scans and phone photos, item analysis and KR-20 reliability.
Our Core Engineering Principles
Three rules guide what we build and what we say about it.
1. Measured, Not Assumed
Correctness is tested, not asserted. Embedarium's processor models are compared with reference simulators (uCsim, simavr, QEMU, gpsim) and its SPICE solver with ngspice; FastOMR's recognition is run against a set of degraded scans on every build.
2. Clear About Where Data Lives
Both products run on servers: projects, scans and results are stored there, not only in your browser. We say so plainly. In FastOMR an organisation can set a retention window and erase a student's records.
3. No Special Hardware
FastOMR reads the forms it prints on plain paper from ordinary scanners and phone photos, without a dedicated optical reader. Embedarium needs only a web browser, with no compiler or simulator to install.
